What a lot of memories together. </span></p><p><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Al was supposed to meet a friend and go golfing in Richfield, Utah. His friend cancelled - I think because I was going there, too. We went anyways and had a lot of fun. I drove the golf cart. We met a nice man named Ed - from Arizona there. It was fun. We hung out for a couple of days. </span></p><p><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">I went golfing with Al and Al went to the quilt show with me.</span></p><p><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">We stayed 2 nights at Quality Inn. It was clean. It had a pool, hot tub and breakfast as well as cookies at the front and coffee, if you drink it. It was reasonably priced. We were very happy with it. </span></p><p><span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">We went back to SLC and stayed 2 nights at Little America. The room was expensive, not as big as the one in Richfield. The view they have on the website was NOTHING like our view out of the second story building, outlying the tower. They charged us 30% for amenities - to be returned if it wasn't used. NO breakfast. We did sit in the hot tub. We were charged $18 to park there each night!! Who does that! It was expensive, no personal touch. It will be our first and last stay there.</span></p>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-49551692563505400232023-06-28T11:37:00.005-06:002023-12-04T10:56:51.667-07:00<p><span style="color: #073763; font-family: Quicksand; font-size: medium;"> I went to the eye doctor today. It's not a hard surgery. She wanted all five of her girls there with her. I asked her why we all needed to be there. She said, "Because I thought it would be fun. And we can go to lunch after." That was my mom, she loved a good time. She always made things fun. She loved to celebrate the holidays. I really miss that woman.</span></p><p><span style="color: #073763; font-family: Quicksand; font-size: medium;">I think I shall request the presence of my kiddos when I have my cataract surgery!</span></p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPFxIsbWVXlAsjQL_S7TMCgTeeq1cqL2DQxh_91-xUtvFvfyWV4dNHXgZanf9ga9Lse5dbLiLhjPCRm2naN2lZ_ME9GEHID4WN_tDZfW4NQ9j_hV5K0zZ9duTXoJfrHIlTrjePkOAH9UUxhuaiIDGkB43ckTw9smgc7GdtcrrMW47dSiS0j2T7Iw" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1333" data-original-width="1000" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPFxIsbWVXlAsjQL_S7TMCgTeeq1cqL2DQxh_91-xUtvFvfyWV4dNHXgZanf9ga9Lse5dbLiLhjPCRm2naN2lZ_ME9GEHID4WN_tDZfW4NQ9j_hV5K0zZ9duTXoJfrHIlTrjePkOAH9UUxhuaiIDGkB43ckTw9smgc7GdtcrrMW47dSiS0j2T7Iw" width="180" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-33456876385769838292022-12-07T16:39:00.005-07:002022-12-07T16:39:35.891-07:00<p> <span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">After the flood comes the fire.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">My Hubby was gone for the week. We had the flood with disaster control coming in to help clean up. I was cleaning the front room and "uncovered" the fire place. This was around midnight on a Friday night. I wondered if it still worked. That was a bad idea.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">I turned on the gas, and held a barbeque lighter where I thought the gas line was. I burned up a bunch of cobwebs, but no fire. Suddenly - KABOOM! There was a big fire flash, but no fire. I put the lever back in place, went to the bathroom and my face was lightly burned with about half an inch of my hair that framed my face. Also, now I have no eyebrows!</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">I slathered on some aloe vera I have in the fridge. I thought about it and decided to go to emergency to see if everything was OK. They said I had done the right thing and with time everything would be alright.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">I got home about 1:30 a.m. The house smelt gassy. I decided to call the gas company just to be safe. Boy, the rules they have. I needed to leave my house and walk 350 feet away. How much is that anyway? Don't start my car. Don't turn anything off or on. It was pretty cold. I DID turn on the front porch light and open the door and I walked across the street and walked up and down for a while. I was freezing. I snuck back in and grabbed a couple of quilts. Then I waited and waited. Now it's 2:30 in the morning and a couple of huge trucks slowed down. I heard heavy metal from the first truck. We have some crazy neighbors that come home late, so I just thought it was them. About 10 minutes later the guys hopped out. I walked over to the truck and saw it was the gas company. I identified myself and they took out their meters. They went to the fireplace and there wasn't any gas leaks. Guess I had turned it off properly.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">But, they still detected a gas leak. They found it in the basement. They ended up turning off my gas and putting a sticker on that only a qualified technician could remove. They left about 5:30 a.m.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">On Saturday I had made commitments, so I left for the day. When I got home the hubs was there. I had to tell him that we didn't have any gas and I had to tell him about the flood, too. We called a couple of those 24 hour services to see if they could fix our gas line, but the best any one could do was Monday.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">On Monday Nick came out. He fixed the pipe, after shutting off all of the gas appliances. When he was done, the water tank wouldn't fire up. We ended up having to get a new hot water tank, which couldn't be installed until Tuesday. When Nick got out old tank to the street he said it was the worst one he had ever seen. Plus it was 18 years old, so it had given more life than most.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">All in all - it was an expensive week! Hopefully not to be repeated anytime soon.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-30791008163198213632022-10-12T15:08:00.000-06:002022-10-12T15:08:38.366-06:00<p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;">Sometimes, no matter how long we plan - things just don't go our way.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">Yesterday my hubby left for a 5 day hunting trip. Perfect. I had so many plans! What should I do first? Quilt? Rubber stamp? Clean out that closet I can never get to, because he is in his chair and I can't throw all of my clothes over him (lol). Hummm</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">I had a friend come over to visit, and we had to go in the back yard because killer dog wouldn't let her enter my house. It was great. I noticed my plants needed some water, so I watered them. I was just putting around. I tried to start my dishwasher. I like to get the water hot first. I had the water on for longer than usual, and no hot water! </span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">I went downstairs to see if the hot water heater was working - and I had a fountain shooting out of my washing machine! Or so it seemed. Luckily I know where the water valve is to the house, so I shut off all of the water. We had 2 inches of water all over the basement - well in 3 rooms. I called any hour services and they sent someone out within the hour. </span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">Guess it wasn't the first time he had seen something like this. He had to replace the hoses to my washing machine. He also called out a disaster company. That company was out within the next hour.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">After turning off the water, some of it actually went down the drain, but AllPro Services brought in a water vac, some big fans and gave me an estimate of what it will cost to get the basement back in order. I have so much fabric and rubber stamps. The water saturated all the cardboard boxes. I have been "running" up and down the stairs putting what I can into the garbage cans.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">I have a knee replacement scheduled in a month, so the stairs have been doubly fun. I am so thankful for plastic containers. Anything in those don't have a problem.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">I have bolts of fabric stretched across the deck. It looks like a big festival is headed my way.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">I'm trying to be a mature adult about this. I decided to NOT call my hubby, and ruin his hunt. If he is lucky, he will get a deer - and have no other worries.</span></p><p><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: x-large;">Life - it's not for the faint of heart. </span></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-15354369607199748002022-09-21T17:16:00.003-06:002022-09-21T17:16:28.589-06:00<p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Another 2 hour casserole my mom would make is:</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><b>Texas Hash</b></span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">1 pound ground beef</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">2 sliced onions</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">2 chopped green peppers</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">2 cups canned tomatoes</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">1 cup water</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">1 cup uncooked rice</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">1 t. chili powder</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">1 t. salt</span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #660000; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Saute' beef, onions and peppers until beef is browned. I haven't blogged for so long. I felt inspired to try something I heard about - dying eggs for Easter.<br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;">I used tissue paper - red, dark blue, bright green and orange. I cut each piece of paper into 6 pieces.</span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;">Wrap each egg in the tissue. The first batch was just red. I put the blue, orange and green into the next batch. I used my instant pot, using 1 cup of water each time. Add your wrapped eggs. Put on pressure for 5 minutes. After that, let it sit for 5 more minutes. Put into an ice water bath for 5 more minutes. Remove the tissue paper.</span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;">Enjoy!</span></p><p><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhBW_MXB3TH4nsGDqekeUGnoL025bM7SEMOTeHbbEPaRQzyiFnUys99H_OOW4AoIYmlcDPn-y1oMDcvH2DNIs_sHhiGqD6JFE3LNRZpbn0lMx8tMdb4OZhZt8RMnbVgquJkm4EQ3ZOupFqzm42_uh477JxemuLVQBDU54s_QRSTCniwrXDbmJs" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhBW_MXB3TH4nsGDqekeUGnoL025bM7SEMOTeHbbEPaRQzyiFnUys99H_OOW4AoIYmlcDPn-y1oMDcvH2DNIs_sHhiGqD6JFE3LNRZpbn0lMx8tMdb4OZhZt8RMnbVgquJkm4EQ3ZOupFqzm42_uh477JxemuLVQBDU54s_QRSTCniwrXDbmJs" width="180" /></a></div></div><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;"><br /><br /><br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjlx2L3qrXxxco_O2HtNKDmxNzxYAB9B7ejqjUbTEKzBpTBZ0QG103zTxjslpFX1Xwpp4F_p302NkV2o1LqZy2j8sa-pmRVDyw8fW42yV7_mcbZBFUIP3jk0JIDtvJUMz3VT53e9s_honXlNfg3tWprE9BWenqI_IvDsx1OnW-PTJJME-mikPk" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjlx2L3qrXxxco_O2HtNKDmxNzxYAB9B7ejqjUbTEKzBpTBZ0QG103zTxjslpFX1Xwpp4F_p302NkV2o1LqZy2j8sa-pmRVDyw8fW42yV7_mcbZBFUIP3jk0JIDtvJUMz3VT53e9s_honXlNfg3tWprE9BWenqI_IvDsx1OnW-PTJJME-mikPk" width="180" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtG51odt5wLlfZWxt543DTV3tDl5viwrgPMvlAHWZCu0lVn6EkkyWYEhtH07N1_fbEp5XBVE8C8wjqIA3NPKaL3scF6OGXU2Oz6pzF_pPhOKp4XGuWvw9zDoDm6asYYnTvLt5j3SHqeM-3R0Tb2HphnQwbBJV2NC1a4cnjMxylT9W-AZQ4elA" style="font-size: x-large; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtG51odt5wLlfZWxt543DTV3tDl5viwrgPMvlAHWZCu0lVn6EkkyWYEhtH07N1_fbEp5XBVE8C8wjqIA3NPKaL3scF6OGXU2Oz6pzF_pPhOKp4XGuWvw9zDoDm6asYYnTvLt5j3SHqeM-3R0Tb2HphnQwbBJV2NC1a4cnjMxylT9W-AZQ4elA" width="180" /></a><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhcanVXSkn-sSRwhZBVbOVAQiZH9A2tVIG-C3CmjbYXCEmlvRYP8TnSfkh1PnXAm5jUVDxxVAwos_fTT60BrwG_oGi1E0MKWWQ0L1yDbcpfNwxug-bXPKDwZZPBUPKp4wd7is5hekMM9zKq4W9sVU52vduBSLbXb33FNnXZdQyPUPpewjLHXJQ" width="180" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjiU2OTFlklAMcnXk8_lYbWRBT3lrnKdWB8h7U_dIwy7c-izlkNliOZh5HSQy7Vz6s4hhENkIhP-qvzTwWJKS-jdkrAPhcC_Bc9VKYo_c41odvGoalKtNQ-o8QLUeZ0dtJcsyvVCSRD8j9PWLcYWSxw5EaLiFO7RiwtoR9i5MunV_AT7t8jrAk" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjiU2OTFlklAMcnXk8_lYbWRBT3lrnKdWB8h7U_dIwy7c-izlkNliOZh5HSQy7Vz6s4hhENkIhP-qvzTwWJKS-jdkrAPhcC_Bc9VKYo_c41odvGoalKtNQ-o8QLUeZ0dtJcsyvVCSRD8j9PWLcYWSxw5EaLiFO7RiwtoR9i5MunV_AT7t8jrAk" width="180" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjiU2OTFlklAMcnXk8_lYbWRBT3lrnKdWB8h7U_dIwy7c-izlkNliOZh5HSQy7Vz6s4hhENkIhP-qvzTwWJKS-jdkrAPhcC_Bc9VKYo_c41odvGoalKtNQ-o8QLUeZ0dtJcsyvVCSRD8j9PWLcYWSxw5EaLiFO7RiwtoR9i5MunV_AT7t8jrAk" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhcanVXSkn-sSRwhZBVbOVAQiZH9A2tVIG-C3CmjbYXCEmlvRYP8TnSfkh1PnXAm5jUVDxxVAwos_fTT60BrwG_oGi1E0MKWWQ0L1yDbcpfNwxug-bXPKDwZZPBUPKp4wd7is5hekMM9zKq4W9sVU52vduBSLbXb33FNnXZdQyPUPpewjLHXJQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div><br /></div><span style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;">The red and blue turned out the best. We are doing what most people are doing. Trying to stay home, washing our hands, sanitizing, cooking more and baking.</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">Tonight I tried a new recipe for our family. I made shrimp-bacon alfredo</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><b><u><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">Alfredo Sauce</span></u></b></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">1 cup heavy cream, or evaporated milk</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">4 tablespoons butter</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">3/4 cup shredded Paramesan cheese</span></p><p><span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: medium;">Melt butter. I went with her last year to buy an apple computer and printer. She also bought a warrantee and tech support.</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;">We (I) took to back after a month. Now it's been a year. She called me up to take her grocery shopping. As soon as we got into the store - she "ran" right to the gift card section. I thought it was weird, but until I saw her grab $500 worth of google play cards I didn't say anything. When she took them to the cashier I questioned her. She said the man that was "fixing" her computer needed to be paid with google play cards. I told her she was being scammed. She assured me she was not - that is how you pay to get your computer fixed.</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;">I told my auntie that ANY company would take a credit card, they didn't need google play cards. She wouldn't listen.</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;">Any trip to the store with her is 3 hours. After the google play card purchase we started in the produce. I called my oldest son to ask him what to do - he was sick. He said the same thing as me - she was being spammed.</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;">My son told me to take her to the police station when we were done shopping. I didn't do it, but I probably should have.</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;">Please don't take a chance - if you can't pay with your credit card - you're getting SPAMMED!</span></p><p><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></p><p> </p>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-21648892403672235322020-09-17T13:19:00.000-06:002020-09-17T13:19:09.777-06:00Pictures of Fudge during the process<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHSGIJSKM2WPjtbKVpl88UOivHOfTIfOhYt6btBTnitCK3zgAFtMQErODf3qDlBb5GVz7x5ixUPo5t5EggPDbeL3wTbMe4LPM-Rhwko1wP6rzKOLGzJ_20YF6y7hyphenhyphenCMc3TdaIlAg/s2048/bring+to+a+boil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHSGIJSKM2WPjtbKVpl88UOivHOfTIfOhYt6btBTnitCK3zgAFtMQErODf3qDlBb5GVz7x5ixUPo5t5EggPDbeL3wTbMe4LPM-Rhwko1wP6rzKOLGzJ_20YF6y7hyphenhyphenCMc3TdaIlAg/s320/bring+to+a+boil.jpg" /></a><span style="color: #4c1130; font-family: helvetica; font-size: medium;"> Bring sour cream, butter and sugar together. <span style="color: #45818e; font-size: x-large;"><b>Email addresses</b></span></div>
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">I got a gmail email address when they first came out. Little did I know that there were SOOOOO many "J" names that wanted to use my account! I have "subscribed" to lots of things I never want to see.</span><br />
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">I get invoices from different businesses. I usually print out the receipt (if it has "J's" address on it) and send it snail mail. I also ask them to not use my email address.</span><br />
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">One of my worst nightmares happened a couple of weeks ago. Some 14 year old - skater dude used my email for HIS instagram account. Guess what? I don't want to see skater dudes. I want to see my friends and family.</span><br />
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">Since it's been quite a while, i got on HIS instragram - using my email - and changed his profile picture to:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9oZv_VKm7xAJzZr-fBSu-T-BSSz5hHXAwyBZfptovPuAE-o86wzlbtrcPjqLIVPUhf6vuS1zOW7YYaGsZ_-ur0MoIfWEoP8twZ22NdA6x-w-DW-ti4ij1UMbsEfKfqRGYnhiy6A/s1600/hacker.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="297" data-original-width="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9oZv_VKm7xAJzZr-fBSu-T-BSSz5hHXAwyBZfptovPuAE-o86wzlbtrcPjqLIVPUhf6vuS1zOW7YYaGsZ_-ur0MoIfWEoP8twZ22NdA6x-w-DW-ti4ij1UMbsEfKfqRGYnhiy6A/s1600/hacker.png" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">I also wrote in the bio that I like to use other people's email accounts.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">Surprise! today i could actually get to my instagram account. It was nice seeing all the faces and stories I've missed.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">Oh, the lesson here - don't mess with an old lady - she might mess with you.</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">People at work were talking about vacations today.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">One lady told me she never took her kids on a vacation. She was a single mom. She didn't make much money. Her ex didn't pay child support.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">When my youngest daughter was about three months, we flew to California. We did a lot of tourist-y things, but it seemed like we were the biggest attraction. People stared - we had three kids, and we didn't see anyone with any kids.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">When my middle son was about two, we went to Disneyland. I don't remember a lot of the details because that was thirty six years ago.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Most of any other vacations were centered around the deer hunt. I don't remember a vacation that didn't involve camping. We still like camping or trailor-ing vacations.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">My hubby and I have had a few staycations. They are always fun. We enjoy the hot tub, swimming and breakfast buffets.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I have been pressing for another vacation to Disneyland. We are finally going to do it! It will be a quick trip. I'm hoping it will be a lot of fun and we will do something like this again.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Sometimes we just need to break out of the mold and do something different.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">She loves to experiment and fix food for others.</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">It's not exactly what she would eat, but she makes it look fancy.</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">Miss B. fixed me some gingerbread cookies with peanut butter.</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">She added a half walnut - for the eye appeal.</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">It was yummy, and I'd eat it again!</span><br />

<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">Guess I've let life get in the way of blogging.</span><br />
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">I have been reading a lot. Just finished the series - <u>Prelude to Glory</u>. Wowsa, the things the men and women went through to help us become a nation is amazing. Also, it made me love George Washington so much. He really loved his solders. </span><br />
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">Reading - it is so important.</span><br />
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">Last night I babysat a couple of my grandkids. They love books. I read Cheeto the Three Little Bears, using a deep voice for the papa bear and a tiny, high voice for the baby bear. Cheeto smiled and stared at me. It was fun to see his face as my voice changed.</span><br />
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">We can all explore the world more by reading a book.</span>jimihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01527533805013168244noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27983824.post-61923738090894681132018-12-24T19:44:00.001-07:002018-12-24T19:44:18.281-07:00<span style="font-size: large;">Al & I are on a new diet - Help your diabetes. We have changed a lot of the way we eat.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It's Christmas Eve and Al is in an eggnog mood.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I found a few recipes, and came up with my own for something we can have to drink.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Almond Milk Eggnog</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">6 cups vanilla almond milk</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4 eggs</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">1 teaspoon vanilla</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">rum flavoring to taste (2-3 Tablespoons for us)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Mix it up in a blender or with a mixer.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Serve it up - put leftovers in the fridge.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #cc0000; font-size: x-large;">Merry Christmas!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

I picked up a bunch of stuff. I probably had 30 items in my cart. I try to be polite. There was a woman that was behind me with one thing. Just one. I looked at her 3 different times to let her go in front of me, but she was too engrossed in her phone. She never looked up. I didn't let her go in front of me.</span><br />
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #134f5c; font-size: large;">Sometimes we need to take a break from our phones and look at what is happening around us.</span><br />

<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">Today I took krumkake to work. Some people call them prezzells. Doesn't matter the name - they are delicious. The top one is the regular recipe, the bottom I made them vegan. I enjoyed the vegan ones better.</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">Here are the recipes.</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">Krumkake</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1 cup sugar (I used 3/4 c.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1/2 cup softened butter</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">2 eggs</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">2 Tablespoons cornstarch</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1 teaspoon vanilla</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1 1/2 cup flour</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">Beat sugar with butter. Add eggs and continue beating. Add in dry ingredients. Place a heaping teaspoon of dough on iron. I cooked mine counting to 30.</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">Vegan Krumkake</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1 cup sugar (I used 3/4 c.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">1/2 cup coconut oil</span><br />

They weren't my grandkids, but they made me feel like they had the confidence of a grandma in me.</span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">One little boy told me that his mom was "abusive". He was always afraid she was going to hit him. In fact, he could only see his mom with another adult present. How sad.</span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">I asked him if he wanted to read a book, or have me read to him. He said his teacher was the only one that had ever read to him. I asked him if he goes to the library. He said only at school.</span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">How thankful I am that my mother read to me! Especially as a teenager, when she wanted all six of us to have an hour of quiet time. How wise she was.</span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">The other little boy thought his family had left him. Well, they had left him, but they thought he was asleep and they went on a walk a couple of blocks away. </span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">He came bawling like mad to the front door, my family left me! I'm all alone! OK. Come in. He had a monster book and he could tell me everything imaginable about these monsters. I had my phone. I was playing a little Pokemon. When he saw Pokemon, he was really excited. His family plays Pokemon. </span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">It had been a while and I told him we better see if his family was back. His mom answered the door. She had gone to kiss him good night, and he was gone.</span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">At least he felt comfortable enough to go next door when he was alone. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Pretty sure I forgot to post this. I think Miss J made this 5 years ago! She is 17 and might not want to see this again. It was very creative. I think I was watching some grandkids, trying to think up things for them to do. I always have lots of felt and thread.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I've had one for over a year, but have been afraid to use it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I went to a class at Kitchen Kneads and got many recipes that my family enjoys.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">They also showed how to use the Instant Pot and it is no longer so scary.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Our family's favorite is:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><u>Chicken & Rice</u></span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">2 boneless chicken breasts, cut into pieces (or a pound of hamburger)</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">2 t. oregano</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">1 onion</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">chopped cilantro & parsley</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">1 can tomatoes, diced</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">1/4 cup capers</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">2 T balsamic vinegar</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">3 cloves garlic</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">3 T. sugar</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">1/4 c coconut oil</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">6 cups chicken broth (or beef with the hamburger)</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">4 c basmati brown rice</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">Brown the meat with the onion, green peppers and garlic on saute. Add everything else. Close the lid. Put the pressure on high for 20 - 25 minutes. Let it "rest" for 10 minutes. Release the pressure and it's ready to eat.</span><br />
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #783f04; font-size: large;">I have found that HALF of the recipe is plenty for dinner and leftovers.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
