a recipe with pictures!

Special Sand Ball Cookies

1 c. butter

2 1/4 c. flour

1/4 t. salt

3/4 c. chopped nuts (I use almonds)

1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 t. vanilla

Mix together and form into balls - about the size of walnuts, or use the smalles scoop from Pampered Chef. Bake 375 degrees for 12-14 minutes - golden brown, but not dark brown. Roll in powdered sugar when they come out of the oven. After they have cooled, roll them in powdered sugar again, and you can store these in a covered container for at least a month. (If you don't keep sneaking them!)

This is one of the best recipes I got this Christmas season.

to share the snack mix recipe with you. I got it from Kathy this year (a couple of weeks ago when she was making it for her work) It is from Tahnee (Loveland) - probably from school.

CHRISTMAS SNACK

3 c. corn chex
5 c. rice chex
1 small box Golden Grahams
2 c premium coconut
2 c. sliced almonds

Mix in large bowl

In a saucepan bring to boil:
1 c. Karo (light)
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter

Boil 2 minutes. Pour over chex mixture. Mix well
1/2 package mini marshmallows (Save these until you have combined the rest of ingredients)

These are some darling flip flops Lagena (from work), made for me. She has the BEST ideas!

This is one of the places the kids can climb around on the rocks safely. It was a lot of fun. Justine was very helpful with Max, so he could enjoy the experience, too.

I have never seen so many water lilies, and so many different colors! These water lilies were the most brilliant pink. The picture really doesn't do them justice. There were white ones, yellows and pale pinks. This was an enormous pond, too.

The koi fish were amazing! They were a floresent orange and some were a bright blue. They would fight for the fish food. As we spent a little more time there, we could see small fish, and even tad pole things on the outer edge of the water. I'm surprised that the big fish didn't gobble up all the babies.

Got to spend some time with the W. kids. We went to the Children's Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. I can't believe how HUGE that place is!
The colors are so beautiful everywhere. Max, Riley and Justine had a great time.

The Kids are posing with a bear. Even the sidewalk had bear paws all around. There are some very clever things there. We saw lots of different kinds of "foot prints" and it helps the kids to learn.
The waters all around are so beautiful. There were lots of water falls, fountains, etc.

Lagena has done it again!!

She made this darling flip flop thing and gave me one - at work. The flip flops are made of jello. She put some flip flop gum and candies all around! She is such a talented lady!

One of my favorite places to eat in Utah County is Las Hermanos!!

I love the chicken taquitos. The meal is always started with chips & salsa, and theirs really rocks! Sometimes when we go camping my SIL, Kathy, brings a big bag and a container of salsa from Las. Yum yum!

I'll attach a picture when the computer isn't being so touchy.

Layden and Lincoln are my neice's little boys. They are about KyeLee & KyeAnne's age. The boys have great imaginations, and always like to go "Hunting, fishing and camping." Lincoln is always Al (my hubby and oldest brother) and Layden is always Papa Dan (Al's younger brother) They asked the girls - "Do you want to go hunting?"

"No, we don't know how to go hunting."

"Do you want to go fishing?"

"No, we don't know how to go fishing."

"Do you want to go camping?"

"No, we don't know how to go camping."

"OK then, you can stay home and be the mom.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the "fire" they made out of rocks. Those boys are so cute, and they were really cute with my granddaughters.

We had our boats ready to go - just waiting for Dan to get back down. (He was doing the 590 step thing)

590 steps!! That's how many steps there are to get from the river - to fish - to get back to the truck. Every one of the steps is straight up the hill, too. It wasn't an easy journey. Oh, that 590 steps up started with 590 steps down. The hardest 1/2 mile of my life!

KyeLee found a little butterfly that was almost dead. We tried to get it to stay upright, but it kept flipping over to it's back. I tried to explain that everything will eventually die. She didn't want it to, so she said a little prayer on the butterfly - asking Jesus to bless it to get better.
When KyeLee finally accepted the fact that it wouldn't make it, she buried it with the sandy dirt.

This is my 18 inch trout!! It was a nice one, and I had to throw it back :(

You can only keep fish under 15 inches or over 22 on the Flaming Gorge River.

We saw LOTS of fish that day, but I only caught 2 of them.

I'm going back though some of my pictures, and trying to write a little about them.

Kathy, Dan, Al & I went out one morning to Maple Grove, to go fishing. We camped for a few days, too. It was a very fun place. We caught lots of fish, mostly small ones, but it was fun and beautiful.
